Kobe Bryant is back on TV endorsing Nike, almost two and a half years after an arrest warrant was issued for Bryant after a woman accused him of sexual misconduct on June 30 in a hotel in the Edwards area, outside Vail Colorado.
Kobe lost endorsements from McDonald's and Nutella. Coca-Cola stopped airing Sprite ads featuring Bryant, though the company said that was planned before Bryant’s arrest for sexual misconduct.
Kobe Bryant's commercial plays off the fact that while he is one of the NBA's best players, he has yet to gain large acceptance from NBA fans. He was even booed near his hometown during the 2002 All-Star game in Philadelphia.
Though Bryant lost endorsements with McDonald's and Nutella as a result, Nike kept him under contract, though the company didn't use him until a print ad last summer.
The commercial shows Kobe Bryant practicing and working out with a voice over of Kobe Bryant, "Love me or hate me, it's one or the other. Always has been. Hate my game, my swagger. Hate my fadeaway, my hunger. Hate that I'm a veteran. A champion. Hate that. Hate it with all your heart. And hate that I'm loved, for the exact same reasons."
